Agrecol/Envirolok hosts NASECA-WI June Field Event

Thank you to everyone who joined us in June for the NASECA Envirolok Wetland Training-WI event “Navigating Wisconsin’s Wetland and Waterway Regulations”.

The over 60 industry professionals attending had the opportunity to learn and discuss what types of activities are regulated and how the permitting process works. The morning’s feature presentation provided by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources covered the basics of making navigability determinations, identifying the ordinary high water mark (OHWM), and spotting wetland indicators.

After the morning presentations were concluded the event participants were split into groups and visited different field presentations and demonstration sites on Agrecol’s nursery. A trip to the Badfish Creek and its tributaries allowed on site observation and discussion of the morning’s topics. Demonstrations included products approved for use under WNDR Technical Standard 1071 for Manufactured Perimeter Control and Slope Interruption, native vegetation, rain gardens, a green roof, and prairie sod. Field presentations covered various stream bank stabilization products and different methods of measuring infiltration in the field.

The clear skies and rising temperature made it a hot day for field events and a lunch break provided a perfect opportunity to cool down. Rushing Waters Fisheries catered the event with their delicious salmon burgers, hamburgers, brats and refreshments.
