+ Project Snapshot
Located along the shores of Cedar Creek Reservoir, Long Cove was experiencing high waters, and the waves from wakes and recreational use on the lake began to erode the shoreline. Landowners were experiencing property loss due to the erosion and the Long Cove Development group wanted to create a blend of hard and soft armoring to create a permanent solution to this erosion problem. Envirolok was chosen to work with the surplus of iron ore boulders to create a lasting permanent solution for their existing and created shorelines along Long Cove. All along the shore, the height of the walls ranged from 1-3 feet in height. Some of the areas were gravity walls while others were reinforced with earth anchors for maximum stability. Upon completion of installation, a turfgrass sod was laid above the slope and the Envirolok bags were hydroseeded with a native species seed mix. The seeds were specifically chosen both for wet and dry tolerance. The first phase of this installation was successful and the second phase is set to begin soon. Envirolok was able to create the solution they were looking for and prevent future erosion will blending in with the surrounding environment.
